Harrisonburg Virginia New Deal Projects

New, June 2020. This is the first of — hopefully — a series of New Deal sites in and around Harrisonburg, Virginia, photographed by Living New Deal National Associate Connie Gilmer. The Post Office / Courthouse building shown here is the best-known site in Harrisonburg; others are more difficult to track down. Seven other buildings are listed in the Virginia PWA dockets for 1935-1939: 2 dormitories, a jail, a school, a high school addition, a library, and a building (no other details given). There might also have been projects of the CCC, WPA, NYA, or other New Deal agencies.
