Now we're coming to the “tunnel entrance” to the park, and we see some signs that show how the Park is carrying on in the spirit of the New Deal, with a free summer sports program for any kids who walk in and want to take part (which is how all the parks were in the 1930s), plus a sign to make sure that all the families know about New York City's new Universal Pre-Kindergarten program. In the backgound, the Valentine-Varian house, built in 1758.
