Classic Playground entrance at
Riverside Park,
76th Street, lower level. So much work was done in the construction of
Riverside Park, especially the southernmost two miles of it, that there is
not much record of each and every playground, path, staircase, and other
feature, but this is definitely part of the original 1934-37 construction
(
see 1937 photo) similar to the
Boat Basin Rotunda three blocks to the north:
concrete construction faced with fieldstone, and the playground itself is
typical 1930s.
