Mosholu Baseball Field on Webster Avenue between East 201st Street and Mosholu Parkway, July 2014. A May 21, 1935, Parks Department press release says (referring to this field by its original name, and by its location):
This field, recently reconstructed by relief workers assigned to the Park Department, is one of the finest baseball plants in the entire park system, with seating accommodations for 3500 plus 1000 park benches. The diamond has been constructed according to big league specifications...
The same press release (which announces a game between Manhattan College and the Bronx Elks) goes on to say, “The Park Department band [itself a WPA project] will furnish music and the teams will march across the field, forming the guard of honor for a flag raising ceremony before the game. Another feature will be an exhibition by the 40 man drill team of the Bronx Elks.”

In 1948 Mosholu Baseball Field was renamed to Frank Frisch Field in honor of Frankie Frisch the Fordham Flash, Bronx native, Fordham University ball player, second baseman for the New York Giants from 1919 to 1926, and Baseball Hall of Famer, who died in 1973 and is buried in Woodlawn Cemetary in the Bronx. Fordham University is only a ten minute walk from Frish Field, and Woodlawn about a half hour's walk.
